Should i seriously consider making money online through affiliate marketing?

i kind of dropped out of college and i have a lot of free time, i know html, css, php, java script, sql and all that sweet stuff, i was doing computer science, but i really dont know much about how business like that work, is it possible to make a decent income with that, working hard for it. I know some sites makes millions just with ads revenue, so duh u can make money. What i wanna know is having an idea of how difficult it is to 'make it' considering im willing to dedicate a lot of my time to it.
