How often is Sequel (SQL) used by Finance professionals?

I'm a finance Jnr at a top 25 University. I am trying to learn things that will give me an upper hand in the job market. I was wondering if SQL is used by finance pros or is it just VBA. Also any tips and advise is welcome.
