Burn treatment with silver sulfadiazine spray version that has isopropyl alcohol, is it really better?
The key to wound care is to keep it simple. Never put anything into a wound you wouldn't put into your eye and that you would not put into your mouth, The basics are that if it would hurt your eye or act like a poison when swallowed, then using it to help a wound heal is a bad idea. You are right, Alcohols is bad for open wounds and keeping the wound moist, the skin dry and minimizing pai are the basic tenets of wound healing. Might I suggest you get some topical antibiotic cream or ointment and then apply it to the area daily and cover it with a simple dressing that protects the wound and keeps it away from the air. I am impressed with what you have written as far too many of my medical colleagues do not know what you know and more are not interested in doing the research that you did to improve their care. Take this post (both your and mine) to your doc and show them. If they are really good docs, they will thank you for teaching them.
